52 Weekends North East Victoria is an online lifestyle and tourism magazine where you can take country roads less travelled, with an insider’s view of the best food, wine, recreation, art and cultural experiences the region has an offer.

This dedicated local platform aims to be the go-to place for all things North East Victoria, with all of our contributors living, eating and breathing this stunning part of Australia. We offer local lifestyle and tourism businesses the opportunity to become part of a forward-thinking community, dedicated to promoting the region via our website, Facebook and Instagram channels, plus regular emails which feature the latest news, events, special offers and promotions from across the region.

Unique to our platform are the opportunities for collaboration with our members, which come about through regular requests for editorial content, images and travel itineraries. We know that we’re better as one, working together with the common goal to build the profile of this area via our online space where locals support locals, promoting the insider experience to draw increased tourism and inward visitation opportunities.

The story behind the story behind the story…

My favourite childhood memories are the showreel of highlights from school holiday fun with my cousins in North East Victoria. The woodsmoke scent of Granny’s kitchen in her sun-filled house nestled on the banks of Hurdle Creek, cantering bareback through open paddocks in Milawa, swimming in dams and creeks, walking amongst grape-laden vines in the King Valley.

I’d return to Melbourne – and later Geelong – desperate for my next North East Victorian adventure. I always hated leaving and often the one consolation was the sweet aroma of gardenias that Granny wrapped in foil and tucked into the car before we drove away. They’d last until we got home – and maybe a day or two later – leaving behind a memory I’d forever associate with this beautiful part of the country.

I’ve now lived all around the world – right down to marrying an Irishman and having the first of our three children over there – but eventually the pull to make North East Victoria home became an urge that couldn’t be ignored. We made it official at the start of 2016 and haven’t looked back.

Inspired by the rich array of experiences on offer locally, I created 52 Weekends North East Victoria as an independent online travel and lifestyle magazine to share this beautiful part of Australia. It’s a region brimming with talent, from those working the land to those that capture it in art and everyone in between.

Thank you for being part of our journey – it’s a pleasure to have you on board.
