A total pool of $2700 awaits the prize winners of the 15th Annual Chiltern Visual Art Exhibition, to be held across the June Long Weekend 2017.

For over a decade now the Chiltern Tourism & Development Inc has hosted the annual Chiltern Visual Art Exhibition, which has flourished and continues to develop as one of the region’s major arts events.

Following the success of the introduction of The Indigo Award for Young Emerging Artists in 2009, the event organisers are again encouraging all artists under the age of 25 to exhibit in this category.

Among previous winners of this particular award are locally renowned artist Tracie MacVean and Andrew Pearce, whose photography has since been exhibited at the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne Museum and galleries in London, Quebec City and Prague. Andrew has also successfully been featured in solo exhibitions at the Albury Art Gallery and in Sydney.

Two and Three dimensional works and photography by Australian artists are being sought for the exhibition and all entrants will be eligible for The Chiltern Art Prize of $1000, with prizes also awarded in each of the four major categories. All works exhibited will be available for purchase.

This year’s exhibition features artist in residence Tracie MacVean, who organiser Beth Peters says will be working on site, sharing her thoughts and ideas with other artists.

“Tracie is widely exhibited since her win in 2015 and we look forward to seeing her in Chiltern again,” says Beth.

There will also be a section specifically for primary school children.

Chiltern-based artist Kirrily Anderson will run a Collage on Wood workshop at her Paper Trail Studio on the Saturday, from 2-4.30pm. Participants will be able to create their own finished collage on beautiful hardwood, ready to take home and hang.
